"This Golden Retriever puppy was born to a mother who was rescued by a Golden Retriever Rescue Group. The Shelter I am donating to is one that is near me, and is a No Kill shelter where the animals are all given the best of care until they find their special home."

This is a painting of Kasey. Kasey is a dog up for adoption at the HSKC. I adopted my dog at this shelter and he is just a doll, as they all are, with love and attention. I want to be able to help the dogs that I have had to leave behind and the future dogs to come into this shelter. They all need our help.

"This is another dog who ended up in the county pound. If someone does not adopt one of these dogs within 5 days, the dog is euthanized. Thousands of dogs and cats are euthanized each year in a single facility. CARE is a small no-kill shelter that works hard to find forever homes for them. They often take dogs from the county pound just before they are scheduled to be euthanized and find homes for them. They have placed over 1,000 pets. To learn more about CARE, go to their website at: www.careshelter.org"

"I could not resist these big alert proud eyes. Robert is a one of the lucky Greyhounds that has found a forever home. He has unfortunately too many friends that are still looking. Through my art I would like to heighten the awareness of how these gorgeous, quiet and loyal canines are in dire need of a warm safe bed."

"I have a Pembroke Welsh Corgi....Addie is my heart dog. I can't imagine a Corgi being without a loving homebut they do sometimes find themselves in that predicament. Corgi Aid is a nonprofit organization founded to provide financial assistance to Corgis and Corgi mixes. They help rescue Corgis from dog shelters or other non-permanent homes, then foster them until a new home is found. Medical and other expenses for these dogs can become high. That is why I want to donate the sale of this Corgi painting 100 percent to Corgi Aid."

"When a friend's dog recently passed away, she shared a favorite photo with a group of artists and challenged us to paint him. It seemed fitting to donate the proceeds from Jack's painting to a shelter - not the same one from which he hailed, but one that was certain to have a few equally dear possibilities."

"This 5 week old Pit Bull puppy was found in the overnight drop box at our local animal shelter. Her ears were severely infected, after being inhumanely cut with a pair of household scissors or wire cutters, probably as early as 3 weeks of age. Janelle Chavez, founder of Almost Home NM, took the puppy in after the shelter contacted her. She required immediate veterinary care. Visiting this puppy, I was amazed at how playful, happy, and trusting she was after being horribly maimed and brutalized. “Cupcake” now has a loving forever home with her best friend, a Manx kitten!"

"The contemplative, almost wistful expression on this beautiful dog's face inspired me to create this painting with a heart shaped background to identify with the true nature of a well bred and responsibly raised American Staffordshire Terrier. As a result of Breed Specific Legislation, irresponsible breeders and owners, many AmStaff's and other bull breeds are euthanized in shelters worldwide. The lucky ones end up in Rescue where responsible, breed appropriate forever homes can be found for them. "

"Rescue takes a special kind of person. I've had Border Collies most of my adult life, and it's no wonder these intelligent but intense dogs often find themselves in less-than-ideal situations with people who didn't know what they were getting themselves into. My first Border, Maggie, I raised from a puppy and competed with in obedience, all the way through to our OTCh (Obedience Trial Champion). When the CKC dropped the Border as a recognized breed, rather than look to another breed for a competition dog, I decided it was more important to give a home to a hard-to-place young male I'd been training and fostering. Finn is ten now, and still inspiring paintings like this. When Maggie died two years ago, almost seventeen, I didn't intend on getting another dog - but Finn convinced me otherwise. Through Border Collie Rescue Ontario I took on Swish, who is the epitome of that intelligence and intensity. I haven't done a painting of her yet, but rest assured I will! "
