The Canine Art Guild (CAG) is proud to announce the inaugural "Helping Paws

artists who have partnered with their local animal shelters and rescues,
pledging a percentage of their sales from this show in support of animal
welfare efforts. Additionally, three People's Choice honors will be awarded
to the shelters affiliated with the artworks receiving the most votes (one
vote per email address, please). "Helping Paws 2008" will go live on October

Day's End by Kim Ratigan 6" x 4" Coloured Pencil $175 (50% donation) Shelter/rescue Benefitting: Border Collie Rescue Ontario Contact the Artist "I watched this lovely border collie at a local horse show. He belonged to the show organizer. On the go throughout the day, he was her shadow, always ready to help out when he could. I finally caught him when he settled in for a nap, in a freshly dug depression under the steward's chair!
This artwork was displayed the 2008 Art Show at the Dog Show (Kansas City). It is created with coloured pencil and varnished so it can be framed without glass. The sale of this small peice will benefit the Border Collie Rescue Ontario. A little bit to help out those taking on the time and expense to rehome those in need." |
Ready to Go by Catherine Temple 8" x 10" pencil $200 (25% donation) Shelter/rescue Benefitting: Lewis Clark Animal Shelter Contact the Artist "This little black lab has got her teddy and she's looking for her forever home. While the model for this drawing does have a wonderful home so many dogs do not. God gave us stewardship over the animals and while I can't take care of all the animals I can donate towards organizations who are trying to be good stewards. That's why a portion of this sale will go to my local shelter." |

Peaches and Cream by Michelle Wrighton 8 1/2" x 12" pastel on suede $400 (10% donation) Shelter/Rescue benefitting: K9 Dog Rescue, Mandurah Western Australia Contact the Artist "Not every long haired dog in the world is as lucky as Peaches the Pomeranian whose owners care for her properly and make sure that her thick fur is groomed properly to prevent painful knots and mats developing. Peaches is lending her paws to model for this pastel portrait to help out a long haired dog or two who have ended up in rescue in need of proper care and grooming." |
Forgotten Son by Sheona Hamilton-Grant 19 x 30 cm 380 Euros (20% donated) Shelter/Rescue benefiting: Dumfriesshire and Cumbria Greyhound Rescue Contact the Artist "Too many of our canines are very badly treated, abused and neglected. Forgotten Son is all about how strong and important the bond is between "man and his best friend". This young girl is lost in reverie as her beloved dog shows her undying loyalty, support and affection. Through my art I would like to heighten the awareness of how these gorgeous, quiet and loyal canines are in dire need of a warm safe bed. The Dumfriesshire & Cumbria is a Scottish charity focused on re homing retired or abandoned Greyhounds. As a charity they not only use what they raise for kennel fees, vet fees, fostering expenses and advertising but also try to raise public awareness of the plight of dogs at the end of their racing/coursing careers. To date 500 ex racers and coursers have found new homes..." |

Play with me, Bayer by Debbie Flood 8" x 6" Oil on Canvas $300 (20% donated) Shelter/rescue Benefitting: The Humane Society of Knox County, Thomaston, Maine Contact the Artist This is a painting of Bayer. Bayer is a dog up for adoption at the HSKC. I adopted my dog at this shelter and he is just a doll, as they all are, with love and attention. I want to be able to help the dogs that I have had to leave behind and the future dogs to come into this shelter. They all need our help. |
Bloodhound by Stephanie Grimes 9" x 12" pastel $250 (50% donated) Shelter/rescue Benefitting: C.A.R.E. Contact the Artist "This is one of the many dogs that ended up in the county pound. While he was one of the lucky ones who has been adopted, there are many other wonderful dogs and cats that aren’t so lucky. CARE is a small no-kill shelter that often pulls dogs from the county pound before they are euthanizsed and locates good homes for them. To learn more about CARE, go to their website at: www.careshelter.org"

This black lab is well surrounded and at peace with its life.
Through my art I would like to heighten the awareness of how these gorgeous, quiet and loyal canines are in dire need of a warm safe bed of a good home.
