The Artist's Best Friend

"Brothers" is a collage of my current Boxers, Oscar and Mickey. I have had Boxers in my life for the better part of forty-five years now, and they are an integral part of who and what I am. These boys are littermate siblings and wonderful friends and companions, both to each other and to me and my family. Life is never dull when there's a Boxer or two bouncing around.

It's a bit unusual for an owner to have two Boxers with different ear sets. Oscar is the one I raised from a tiny puppy, and I never crop ears on my Boxers. Mickey had a show career before he came to us as a "gently used" young adult, hence his cropped ears and different look.

Details are hard to photograph with the collage works, but in these I pay homage to the individual dog and its history and life story, and also to their bloodlines and where (geographically) they come from. I enjoy using the collage process for telling the life story of an animal, as you can use physical layers in the collage, and layers of time and history of the individual animal or breed.
